What's the difference between the green and yellow Bono card validators?

Hello,

I've bought a Bono card and have been using it on buses round Santa Cruz fine by entering it into a yellow card reader behind the driver.

Today I noticed that there is also a green card reader in front of the driver.

What is the distinction between the two types of reader?

We've used both with our Bono card, is it not just a minor adjustment on newer buses??
