I'm not sure if there was any scaffolding there last week, but the bar was certainly still closed when we walked past.

One thing I miss is proper ale when in Tenerife. I cant stand John Smiths which I know is sold everywhere so I'll give Big Ben's a try Any other real ale places to try? PS - lager isn't that back so its not a major hardship.

Well, went to the Big Ben and the Speckled Hen is great and only 2.50 euros a pint. Its an old pub which is stuck in the 1960's and that includes the décor, music, clientele (not us mind) and owners but its a friendly place with a good atmosphere and always busy. My parents came out on Friday so we took them to Big Ben on Sunday as my father is stuck in the 1960's so it was prefect for him. Also sell Magners at 2.50 a pint which the wife enjoyed. Tried the Speckled Hen in the Breeze Inn and it was awful and a euros more a pint - I struggled to drink it.

Desperate Dans wasn't open when we were in there (twice) so didn't go in. There are some great pics of LC in the 60's inside Big Bens too - some are hidden behind the window shutters. Couldn't believe there were 3 or 4 couples waiting for the doors to open on Sunday - we were in the old Vic (until just after 12) when we had to move as the tables were disappearing fast.

We prefer the Speckled Hen in the Polygon Bar, opposite overseas,(Iceland) in Los Cristianos.
