Hello everyone,
First of all I have to say I'm so glad to find this forum as I'm native from Tenerife but currently living in the UK.:wink2:
I just wanted to share some information with you guys... and advertising my "hometown" a little bit at the same time. haha:laugh:
In the south of Tenerife, right between El Medano and Tajao, exists a tiny fishing village called Las Maretas del Rio. It can be tricky to find at first, since the sing on the motorway only mentions "CHIMICHE, EL RIO" but that's the way to go, just make sure you go to the seaside and not the mountains :wink2:
The village belongs to Arico and to me it is the perfect spot for someone looking for something slightly different to the touristic side of the island. It has a very calm and relaxed atmosphere. Don't expect a party place like Las Americas, Costa Adeje or Puerto de la Cruz... but you still can visit the local pubs, beach and experience the true Tenerife seaside at it's best.
I'll put the facebook page so you can visit it if you like:
https://www.facebook.com/lasmaretas.delrio
I don't have much more to say. I hope you like it
thanks in advance

That's the one Lucky.
Spot on:jumping:
I've been there, twice. First time saw one person and about 40 dogs which was bizarre. Next time saw a few more people as it was just before Xmas and there was a crib and lots of people in a room off the main drag. Also a sort of beach at the end of the town. I remember there being a coach (but nobody about) and an old car (but cant recall what it was now) parked up on the roadside and hadn't seen one for about 20 years in the UK. Assuming its the same on which was almost doubling back on yourself as you exit the junction from LC.
