Hi,
We have just got back to our hotel having spent most of the day in la Orotava, which we were hoping to relocate to. As pretty (and a bit cramped) as it is, the hills are just too much. We only have a few days left here, but I was wondering if any of you knew of some less hilly areas in the north which we could perhaps visit? We're more than used to hills at home as we live in the Pennines so we're not too daunted, but parts of la Orotava were just a bit too much! We're currently in PDC, so I think most areas are accessible by bus.

Thanks
Gin

Hello....as you were asking about La Paz and El Durazno, here are a few Google street views of these two areas. La Paz is the upper area of Puerto de la Cruz, near the Botanical Gardens and Hotel Botanico, where there are both bungalows, small villas and apartments. You can walk around most of this area quite easily.

El Durazno is a little further up the hill but is still part of Puerto de la Cruz, although some parts may be officially classed as part of La Orotava. Again there are flat areas as well as long gentle hilly parts. Like Megaloo I also live in La Paz and although I have a car, I could get around if I needed to by buses as they are frequent here on the main roads.
Were you looking for an apartment or a house? La Paz is quite an urban area. Were you wanting to get out into a more rural setting?
Here are some views from Google street view. The first two are of El Durazno and the second two are of La Paz.

Hi Canarybird thank you for your reply, it's very helpful! We are staying near the Botanical gardens so I think we will walk up there later today. We would like to live in a detached house, ideally not too far from the centre of PDC, but we also have to be realistic. That said we were surprised at how much cheaper the properties are advertised here rather than online at home! Having had a quick look online last night areas such as La Paz and El Durazno look perfect. Long gentle hills will not be a problem at all for us, we are not used to walking 'on the flat', but those hills yesterday were a killer! Thanks again, you live in a lovely part of the world
