Travel around during carnival

We luckily will be there during carnival in Costa Adeje. We have a car rented, but fear Santa Cruz may be crazy during the parades we want to see. What is the best way to get around to see the festivities? We also dont want to drive after a night of street parties:crazy:, do buses run late during Carnival?

Yes the buses run throughout the night into early morning and are very busy - just be careful with pickpockets at bus station.
