How does Tenerife generate its electricity?

Lots of windmills generating electricity throughout Tenerife. Not sure about other generated electricity.

This power station is about a mile and a half from my house, now looking landward and up the hills they are building dozens of wind generators. I just wish they would harness the energy of the sea.

Tenerife has electricity generating capacity of 910 Megawatts.

Wind power accounts for 4% of this. Photovoltaic (solar) power is a further 9%. There is a mini hydro-electric (water power) scheme in La Guancha, but it generates less than one-tenth of one percent of the total. The rest comes from fossil fuels, mainly from two large thermal power stations in Las Caletillas (near Candelaria) and Granadilla, which burn petroleum products.
