THERE has been an ongoing noise problem at the North airport but, finally, it seems that something is being done about it.
Spanish airports’ authority Aena has this week approved the inclusion of another 130 homes into their sound-proofing plan.
It has set aside 187,898 euros for the start of work on homes in La Laguna, which has already begun.
The airport authority recognised the need for action in 35 homes, and 42 other buildings.
Aena has informed representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, and the municipalities of San Cristobal de La Laguna, Tegueste and Tacoronte, of these developments, and the recent tender will help initiate new sound-proofing in the coming months.
An official report reveals that 2,441 properties have a right to sound-proofing, the lion’s share in La Laguna, along with 113 in Tacoronte and 128 in Tegueste.
Some 547 homes have already had work completed, but the project rumbles on … as the airport noise decreases.
