Be careful where you renew you EHIC card online

We needed to renew our EHIC cards, went on-line to do this.

Be very careful, the site we went on looked like the government site, it was not until we had put in our details we were finally asked for payment £24.50 each, we then realised this was the wrong site as we knew they were FREE.

We then looked for the government site & found it it is very similar the the other sites.

There are lots of sites now offering these sort of services that are charging outrageous amounts of money that are supposedly linked to the UK Government, but yet again no one in authority does anything about it.

This has been mentioned a few times before. The internet is very handy but you have to keep your eyes open.

We got caught by this 'service' a couple of years back and were stung for £20 a time. It's one of those things we just assumed the govt. had started charging for so paid up without questioning it.
