Hi-My husband and I will be headed to the South end of the island in September. I heard that we could take a ferry to Las Palmas to visit the place Christopher Columbus stayed before setting off to discover America. Anyone know details on this? Thanks for any info.

bit of an rip-of, for non residents if you ask me
and booking it in advance is cheaper, but not that great still
Also, check if your car, presumably hired in Tenerife would be allowed to be taken to the other islands

The ferry to Las Palmas (Gran Canarias) leaves from the north of Tenerife. The place you are probably meaning is Casa Colon http://www.casadecolon.com/, see their site for details or this one is in English http://www.spain-grancanaria.com/en/what-to-do/culture/museums/casa-de-colon.html

I believe that La Gomera was Columbus,s last port of call.
If so that makes your ferry trip a lot easier from Los Cristianos to La Gomera fast ferry about 35 minutes ordinary ferry about 55 mins.

You can always fly from the north with Binterjet.
