Hello Folks,

Just wondering what the latest is on using a Droidbox and Kodi these days. We've just arrived after 6 months away and just can't get Kodi or Mobdro to work. Have I missed something? Desperate to get my British tv fix, any advice or suggestions much appreciated

Filmon was the favourite, but reports today say the free SD service stopped yesterday, although it still works fine in the UK.

It appears filmon had no choice in Europe. UK high court dismissed an appeal from ITV chn 4 and 5 that internet tv was not cable tv, and was a transmission. So the tv companies appealed to our friends the European court, who ruled in favour of the tv companies. So at the moment we are still ok in the UK. As to whether we will take any notice of the European ruling, due to Brexit, is anyone's guess.

What version of Kodi are you trying to use, the latest is 17.1 but doesn't work too well with Android boxes running old software. Also a lot of the Kodi add ons have changed or need updating. Also check that your isp isn't blocking it, or do you use a vpn? I've only ever used kodi in the uk though.

If Filmon is still available in the UK should we be able to get it here using a London based VPN ?

I have tried but there is now nothing but adverts.

Regarding Modbro I lost it last week but was advised to delete the old version I had & reload the current version - now works fine, apart from the fact that the rags are on every night it seems.

I upgraded my Fire TV to Kodi 17.1 last month- unfortunately you lose all your add-ons and have to re-install ,not too difficult with all the help videos on You Tube .
Still have some minor issues with Sports Devil (I suspect being blocked ) but Mobdro is OK for most sports channels.
I use my box here in Tenerife & UK .

I've got 17.1 on a fire stick just to try out the new Kodi interface but still running 16.1 on my Android box. I usually install one off the Wookie builds which have all the add ons I need already built in.

I have an old box on 16.1 , I suspect upgrading will be a pain !
Donīt use a build as I think they slow things down -I only load what I need ,usually for Box sets/films - we have community UK satellite progs anyway.
The main point to OP is , with a box or laptop -Kodi/Mobdro should cover most of your needs with no monthly payments other than your Internet !
