Canarian drowning

  A PENSIONER drowned on Playa de Quintanilla in Gran Canaria on Tuesday afternoon after struggling, 15 metres from the shore. Lifeguards rescued the unconscious 78-year-old man from the water and took him ashore. Paramedics performed CPR because he was in cardiac arrest, but he failed to respond and they could only confirm his death.
