Hi,
I am coming to Tenerife for 4 days in November, the aim is to base myself in the North as I would like to look around and assess the area with a view to buying a place for holidays and eventually maybe retirement. Had my eye on the Orotava/Puerto de La Cruz area, they sound nice, but have never been to Tenerife (am a regular in Fuerteventura though) so am open to advice if anyone is kind enough to offer some....

I'll have a rental car. The topography looks quite tough for driving around judging by the very wiggly roads - as I want to surf as well(will be looking for reef/beach breaks along the North coast, will only drive down South if conditions dictate this), would I be better basing myself in the Tejina area than Orotava?

Thanks in advance for any advice offered....

It would not be necessary to base yourself in the North of the Island as everywhere is no more than one hour away from anywhere on the Island, having said that Puerto is a lovely place to live but prone to a little more adverse weather than the South. I would not think that 4 days is long enough for a recce,
