Shepherds look after sheep ...that's just to start this off on the right note

The original SHEPHERDS PIE was LAMB in PASTRY

The original COTTAGE PIE was with minced BEEF and MASHED POTATO combed with a fork to look like the thatch.

The shepherds pie was a really poplular choice with housewives at the supermarket, but they made the mistake of calling COTTAG PIE .... SHEPHERDS PIE.

This seemed to catch on, so......

The supermarkets then decided that they would change the name to suit the housewives and SHEPHERDS PIE (THE LAMB IN PASTRY which was no longer the affordable, or the popluar choice) .... was discontinued.

That's why most people get the name wrong!

I had an old recipe book that contained the recipe for the 'original SHEPHARDS PIE - WITH LAMB'. :chef:

Hope this helps!!!!
