As temperatures drop, the Tenerife Cabildo has now lifted the ban on lighting fires in the mountains on the Island.

Weather conditions permitting today [Tuesday 28 June], the use of the barbecue grills located in the recreational areas in the Forest Ring, Anaga and Teno will be permitted. Also, agricultural burning may be conducted, with authorization from the island government’s Department of the Environment.

The Cabildo de Tenerife has safety restrictions to prevent forest fires and wild fires and urges people to take precautions and act responsibly when carrying out any activities in the forest areas. Also, the public is kindly requested to use paved roads and avoid, as far as possible, driving on forest tracks in hot weather conditions.

A ban on activities in the mountains all over Tenerife was motivated by the heat wave which peaked on the islands last Thursday, June 23.
