Good Morning - it's already July!

NOTE: For some reason my photos are not showing up in the preview....I hope this doesn't happen when I press the submit button. If so, mods please check to see what has happened. TIA. I have to go out so can't follow up to see why this has happened. Back this afternoon. Hope it's fixed.

Yesterday we had another overcast day, warm and with high humidity.

Up in Orotava, where I watched the making of the flower carpets the air was so humid it felt like a light rain at times, and later in the day there was a sea of umbrellas as the Corpus Christi procession began to move from the church to the plaza.

Down here in Puerto it didn't rain.

This morning it is again very misty and at 7:30 am it was dull with temperature of 22.7°C and humidity 77%.

Aemet has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures today in all of Tenerife except the north, as well as the eastern islands and the south of Gran Canaria.

Saturday the yellow alert will be valid only for south of Gran Canaria as Tenerife temperatures go down a little.

Provincial forecast is for some early morning and late night cloud in low lying areas as well as calima, first on Lanzarote and Fuerteventura and moving with the winds to the other islands, mainly in middle and high altitudes, continuing on July 2nd and 3rd.

Temperature will be rising a little on coasts and will be significantly higher in the south and middle altitudes; northeast winds light to moderate.
High expected for Sta. Cruz today is 32°C.

Forecast for Puerto de la Cruz is for partly cloudy, north winds moderate to light, temperatures from 19° to 25°C and UV very high at 11.
Saturday cloudy in the morning, Sunday clear, temperatures dropping one degree. UV at 11.

Right Pooh, thanks. I just checked that out too and it looks like they are having maintenance today at Smugmug.
So I'll try one of my other photo hosting sites and see if I can upload them from another site.


Yeah......just after I uploaded them all to Flickr.....the pictures are back and my other place (Smugmug) seems to have finished with their maintenance today and all is there now. Phew! Thought it was my computer for a while.
All is okay now.

Good Morning! I'm a little late today as I had to run out early for shopping.

Our days are still overcast, warm and with a little calima.
This morning looks the same, with no view of the sky or Teide.

Provincial forecast is for cloudy in low lying areas of the north, increasing cloud in the afternoon; all other areas with just a little cloud or clear.

Little change in temperatures. Expected high in Sta. Cruz is 29°C.
The south of Tenerife is no longer under a yellow heat alert.

Forecast for Puerto de la Cruz is for partly cloudy, light north/northeast winds and temperatures from 19° to 24°C, UV of 11.

Sunday will be similar, Monday with a little more cloud and moderate winds at 25 km/h.

Yesterday the northeast winds continued to bring more cloud to the north of the islands, and today we should have similar conditions with the temperatures dropping a little. There's a nice breeze this morning.

Temperatures going down a little, moderate northeast winds with some intervals of strong on northwest and southeast slopes, and moderate to heavy seas along northwest coast. Expected high for Sta. Cruz is 28°C.

Tomorrow and Tuesday heavy seas along the coasts of the eastern islands and most of Gran Canaria.

Good Morning!

We had blue sky and sunshine with a light breeze yesterday afternoon, and the night was warm.

This morning the sun is out, there are large patches of blue sky again with white fluffy clouds around the horizon.

The temperature has dropped, it's pleasantly cooler and there's a breeze.

Provincial forecast is for clouds for low areas of the north below 1100 meters, possible scattered showers in middle altitudes, and light cloud or clear elsewhere.

Temperatures dropping slightly; moderate northeast winds with intervals of strong winds on northwest and southeast slopes.

Expected high today for Sta. Cruz is 26°C.

The yellow alert for strong coastal seas continues for Gran Canaria and the eastern islands.
No alerts for Tenerife.

A little drama this morning at the bird feeder. This one-eyed blackbird was also here last year and possibly the year before.

His left eye is sunken, as you can see and he is perhaps going a little grey (do blackbirds go grey with age?). This morning he has been guarding the feeder, chasing off the other birds who come for breakfast.
He's especially intolerant of the females.

He'll sit on a branch waiting for the next one to come and then he'll descend, flapping his wings and scaring her away. Sigh... the plight of women in the world. Doesn't he look a miserable old coot!

Good Morning!

Yesterday it rained in La Laguna but not here in Puerto. The sun was out and there were some clouds but it was warm and the humidity was high.

This morning it's cloudy, the air feels cool and it looks like it could even rain.

The provincial forecast is for cloudy to very cloudy in low areas of the north below 800 meters, with possible light scattered showers.

Higher areas will have some cloud or clear. Temperatures no change or rising slightly, moderate to strong northeast winds.

Expected high in Sta. Cruz today is 27°C.

This morning there is more cloud, a cool breeze and just after 9 am, a light mist began to fall as a fine drizzle. The humidity is very high - over 80%.

My own experience of the weather today: Drizzle and 19°C in La Quinta at 8 AM this morning. Coming down to Puerto de la Cruz it was raining properly there, but at 10 AM it had stopped. Going over to Santa Cruz, it was till cloudy there at 11 AM, but there had been no rain. Around noon it started clearing up, and by 1 PM was quite sunny and warm.
Back in La Quinta at 2 PM, cloudy and 23°C
Personally, I actually love those cloudy days, even though I want to see the sun now and then...

This morning is again overcast. This same weather caused by the northeast prevailing winds pushing more cloud from the north down toward the islands.

Aemet's provincial forecast for today is similar to yesterday's - cloudy to very cloudy in the north below 1000 meters, light cloud or clear elsewhere, temperatures without change.

Northeast winds moderate with strong intervals on northwest and southeast coasts.

It was overcast again yesterday. We can't seem to get rid of this cloud, however the temperatures are agreeable.

This morning there is a little blue sky seen in patches, otherwise we have more cloud, some grey heavy-looking ones along the north horizon.

There's quite a breeze blowing and some sun is coming through the clouds.

The provincial forecast for today is for (can you guess??)...cloudy to very cloudy below 1000 meters.

Intervals of cloud in other areas except in high zones where it will be clear. Temperatures generally rising.

Northeast winds moderate except on northwest and southeast coasts where it will be strong.

We had some dark cloud yesterday and it was breezy. There were some strong winds up to 80 km/h in La Laguna and other areas of the island.

The yellow alert continues today and tomorrow for high winds and coastal waves.

This morning is sunny with clear blue sky, there's a little breeze and just after 9 am it was already over 22°C.

The Aemet forcast for today is for cloud below 1200 meters with a possible scattered shower in the afternoon.

Cloudy intervals elsewhere except in high areas where it will be clear.

Temperatures without change; northeast winds moderate to strong,
with very strong gusts in the northwest and southeast, in middle altitude and high areas.

Expected high for Sta. Cruz today is 26°C.

It was lovely yesterday wasn't it.
We had enough breeze to dry two loads of laundry quickly.

A little drizzle or heavy mist begin to fall in the evening after 9 pm.
But it did rain yesterday during the day in parts of the north, such as Tacoronte.

This morning all was wet and there was still a light sprinkle of rain at 7:45 am. Early morning temperature was 21.2°C

Aemet provincial forecast still calls for clouds in the north with some early morning showers; temperatures dropping a little and northeast winds moderate to very strong gusts in coastal and middle altitude regions.

Expected high today for Sta. Cruz is 27°C.

It was a lovely day yesterday, with a little breeze in the afternoon.
I was downtown in Puerto after 10:30am and the streets were sunny.

This morning it's still overcast at 9 am but it could clear soon.

The Aemet forcast is similar to previous days: cloud in the morning in northern areas below 1000 meters, and just a little cloud in the afternoon, otherwise clear elsewhere.

Temperatures falling slightly except in middle altitudes where it will rise a little. Expected high for Sta. Cruz is 28°C.

We had another day of mixed sun and cloud yesterday and at one point in the afternoon I noticed my window thermometer in the shade registering 26°C.

This morning is partly clear with a mixture of blue sky, clouds and a little breeze. I managed to see Teide cloudless for the first time in many days and so got a pic or two.

The Aemet provincial forecast again predicts cloudy to very cloudy in the north, little cloud or clear in other areas. Temperatures rising a little along coasts and northeast winds moderate with intervals of strong.

Possibility of scattered showers tomorrow in the north.
Expected high for today in Sta. Cruz is 29°C.

Good Morning!

We had a little drizzle again yesterday morning, but it was over by noon when the sun came out. The temperature was mild, 23.2°C on my shady windowsill at 7:20 pm, although by then it was overcast.

This morning it started to drizzle around 8 o'clock, so we'll see how long it lasts today.

It's saving us having to put the sprinkler on the garden, and the grass is turning green again after wearing its usual summer brown patches.

We had another overcast day yesterday, and no sign of that clear, sunny sky that was predicted by the weather office.

This morning at 8 am it looks just as dull and cloudy, with a mild temperature of 21.5°C.

I saw this photo on Facebook of a banner on the north Tenerife highway at Km 32 and it describes quite well the feelings of many:

The provincial forecast is for cloudy to very cloudy in the north, a little cloud or clear elsewhere. Temperatures dropping slightly but rising a little in middle altitudes.

Yesterday was again overcast with a cloudy sky which only saw a little sun at the end of the day, in time to add a pink tinge to the clouds in the west.

The air was mild and the humidity was at a normal 63%, so it was comfortable.

This morning is cloudy again with no sun.

The Provincial forecast is the same as previous days: clouds in the north with intervals of very cloudy; clear elsewhere with no change in temperatures; northeast moderate winds and a high in Sta. Cruz of 26°C.

We had some blue sky and sunshine yesterday afternoon. The clouds started to open around 1:30 pm and by 2 o'clock it looked like a summer day. Didn't last long though, as the clouds crept back over in the late afternoon.

Yesterday we didn't see much sun as the clouds continued to rule the day.
And this morning the sky is again overcast with no Teide in sight, but after 10:00 am the sun is coming out.

The Aemet provincial forecast is for cloudy to very cloudy in the north below 1200 meters, cloudy to clear in other areas.

Possible light occasional showers in the north; temperatures without change on the coasts with a slight increase in middle and high altitudes.

Moderate northeast winds; on central peaks southeast winds light to moderate, increasing from moderate to strong in the afternoon.

Expected high for Sta. Cruz today is 28°C.

Thursday is expected to have similar conditions with some very strong gusts of southeast wind on central peaks in the morning.

We had sun, cloud and warm temperatures yesterday.
This morning around 10:10 am the sun was trying to break through the cloud.
We'll see if it succeeds. Temperature and humidity are comfortable so far.

The provincial forecast is for more cloud in the north below 600 to 800 meters, light cloud or clear elsewhere; temperatures the same or rising slightly, moderate northeast winds; in central peaks strong to very strong gusts during the morning.
Sta. Cruz is expected to reach 31°C today.

Aemet has issued a yellow alert for high temperatures up to 35°C on Gran Canaria today. Tomorrow it will include the west, south and eastern parts of Tenerife as well as the eastern islands.

The north coast is not under this alert, however it will be a little warmer.

I run out and gather the bay leaf tips. They are wonderful for spreading inside kitchen cupboards to keep away those beige moths that get in cereals.
They also keep away other insects that appear in the kitchen in summer.

Another warm and cloudy afternoon yesterday, and although it was bright, there wasn't much blue sky to be seen.

This morning is heavily overcast at 8:00 am with a warm temperature of 22°C.

The provincial forecast is for intervals of high and middle altitude clouds with overcast skies in lower areas of the north during the first half of the day;temperatures rising slightly, especially in south facing middle altitude areas where it could reach 34°C or more; light to moderate northeast winds.

Expected high for Sta. Cruz is 31°C. There is also some calima expected in the archipelago today.

Note that the yellow alert for high temperatures in parts other than the north of Tenerife has extended into Saturday, where it includes some areas of the western islands.

The provincial weather forecast is for low cloud in the morning, temperatures rising;
moderate northeast winds which could be strong at high altitudes.

Good Morning!

Yesterday we had a very warm day, with skies clear except for the calima haze.
At 3 pm the air temperature was 26°C on my shady windowsill.

This morning we again have a sky lightly overcast with both calima, light cloud and warm temperatures. But there's also a little breeze which helps cool the air a little.

The calima will continue throughout the day.

The Aemet forecast for today continues with a yellow heat alert in Tenerife south, west and east,the western islands and Gran Canaria but not in Tenerife north.

Cloudy in areas below 700 meters, light cloud or clear with some high cloud in the morning elsewhere, temperatures dropping slightly, north winds moderate to strong, more intense at middle altitudes, in central peaks light to strong west winds at the end of the day.

Expected high for Sta. Cruz is 32°C.

The yellow heat alert has been lifted for Monday.
