Yay! I was hoping no-one would win. I was in Torviscas near Santa Maria hotel at about 7:15pm and was reminded I needed to get a ticket. Couldnt find a lottery shop anywhere. Tried Gran Sur - nothing! Where the heck can you get a ticket in that area?

You can play Euromillions online at http://www.loteriasyapuestas.es - then you don't have to run around looking for lottery shops, and give them your bank account where they can deposit the winnings directly...

How about a Forum Sweepstakes :)

tonypub
07-07-2011, 15:30
How about a Forum Sweepstakes :)i bet it will be another rollover.think the odds of winning are crazy Winning the jackpot of the Euromillions lottery isn’t easy. You need to correctly pick 5 main numbers from 50 and 2 Lucky Star numbers from 11 in order to scoop the top prize, and the odds of you doing this are just 1 in 116,531,800. That sounds difficult, and to illustrate just how slim the odds of winning are, many people have compared them with the odds of being killed in a number of unlikely ways. For example, someone living in the UK...

• Has a 1 in 10,000,000 chance of being killed by lightning.

• Has a 1 in 3,000,000 chance of dying from food poisoning.

• Has a 1 in 2,000,000 chance of dying by falling out of bed.

Such miserable statistics might make it look as if you have more chance of dying in a grisly fashion than winning the lottery, but in actual fact this observation is deceiving, because the published odds of winning Euromillions (1 in 116,531,800) relate to your chances of winning one particular draw.

The lottery odds have now changed since they introduced the extra numbers.
Now your chances are only 1 in 76,275,360.

playing the lottery in the uk(if you have the same numbers every draw)is in my opinion like a debt.i used to play lotto all the time having £5 every wed and sat so paying £520 per year.this is a large amount of money in todays climate with the money being better spent on other things eg my car insurance is now £513 so do you have free car insurance or take the equivalent chance of getting struck by lightening.these organisations exploit people by having these huge prizes that is virtually impossible to win.dont want you to think i am an old tight wad,i now play the irish lotto paying £6 per week,i have 3 numbers which pay £610 which roughly means you can play for 2 years and it wont have cost you a penny if you win once in 2 years.600 quid isnt a bad pick and you at least have a chance of doing this(won 9 times in the 3 years ive been doing this)

The website has not been updated yet but it could be more than £40 as the top prize has reached the ceiling so the excess goes to the lower prizes.

I agree but thinking about it it would be almost impossible to keep a win that size under wraps for very long. Maybe they thought it might be easier to get all the publicity out of the way then hopefully it might die down.

I think Camelot puts pressure on the winners to go public. If I ever win I will not go public,My family would be told not to tell anyone. I would move away from the area i live in anyway. I don't want to have my details splashed across the papers and camera's stuck in my face.

CIM
16-07-2011, 21:18
I wouldn´t go public either - doubt I´d tell anyone. Plus, there´s "helping out" family and friends and then theres completely changing the lives of family and friends forever. I think a lot of people are pretty content with their lives - blasting them all with a million quid each - would it really be a good option??!!
I would like to help people live more comfortable but I certainly wouldn´t like the responsibility that would come with turning their lives upside down by handing them a million quid each!

The couple that won the 153 million pounds, are a pleasant couple and still walk about Largs, doing their shopping and the husband has not bought a exotic sports car, they did splash out on a largish house (a castle) in the town where they have lived for years.and have bought their children a house each.
Hopefully he will buy me a drink in my local pub tonight as he left last week when it was his round.....so not much has changed.;)

PS
The wife still buys some unbranded tinned food.
