The unemployment figures fell again in May for the second consecutive month, with 79,701 fewer unemployed, a decrease of 1.87% over the previous month, bringing the total out of work to 4,189,659 in Spain

This is the second biggest drop in May since 1997, according to Secretary of State for Employment, Mari Luz Rodríguez.
Despite declines in the past two months, in the past year unemployment has risen by 123,457 people, 3.04% more, according to the unemployment figures released by the Ministry of Labour and Immigration.

In May, unemployment fell in all sectors, especially in services, with 34,613 fewer unemployed (1.39%), followed by construction with 20,922 fewer (2.75%), industry with 10,663 fewer (2 13%) and agriculture, 5059 (3.58%).
The number of men out of work fell by 55,890 (2.64%) in May to 2,064,581 and the number of women out of work fell by 23,811 (1.11%) to 2,125,078.

In the last year, unemployment among men rose by 27,389 (1.34%) and 96,068 women (4.73%).

May also saw a 2.79% reduction in the number of foreigners unemployed (17,630 fewer), but the figure has still increased by 16,661 (2.79%) over the past year, bringing the total of unemployed foreigners in Spain to 613,547.
Unemployment figures fell across the whole country, especially in Andalusia, with 20,259 fewer unemployed, in the Balearic Islands by 6854 and Catalunya by 6,199.

In the Canaries unemployment fell by 2432 people in May, 0.95 percent compared to the month of April, bringing the number registered in the employment offices to 254 341 people, according to data released by the Ministry of Labour.

The number of unemployed claimants has fallen in the Canary Islands 11,575 people, 4.35 percent less than before.

In the Canary Islands, the largest number of unemployed under the services sector (174,062), followed by construction (49,437) and Industry (12,566)

Unemployment falling in the Canaries in May is possibly a good concept as it is the slowest time of the year. Although I had read on a Spanish forum that there were several town halls taking on people just before the elections.
