Always loads of people fishing at Palm Mar, they lean their fishing tackle on the 'No Fishing' signs

Do you use the giblets and throw the chicken away, how naughty.

if i told you where the best place to fish is, i'd have to kill you after :twak: ..... we use old smelly prawns (gambas para pescar - ask in freezer shops or mercandona, as they're cheaper than eating prawns), or hubby makes up a old crusty bocadillo bread/water/fish oil ball, and breaks bits off to use as bait... or chipirones if you're fishing deeper... question! am I the only British female on the island with a proper fishing licence? :spin:

oh sorry, chipirones are baby squid, not the tiny tiny ones, but in-betweeny size... hubby uses them on a bigger hook, whole or cut smaller, that he casts out further to deeper waters... lol what type of fish? anything that's edible hahaha, he's caught an octopus doing this, but basically trying to catch slightly bigger fish than the ones that swim close to the rocks... i'm not good with names, sorry... we normally just catch whatever decides to eat our bait (i'll have to reach for reference book for names, but parrot fish, trigger fish (though haven't caught one of those for yonks and they're my favourite) ummm bream, yellow jack? few Spanish names: lisas, boga) ... basically anything that we can have for our tea that's within the legal size... oh, we've also caught eels, needle fish? (garfish!), my first ever catch (with a bamboo kiddies rod) was a trumpet nose fish nearly 20 years ago off Los Cristianos harbour... hubby caught the jetfoil ferry that day :) ... there's a good little fishing shop in Las Galletas (if they haven't got what you want they will order it... don't know how much English they speak though), right by the Alborada hotel entrance, cheaper than the shop in Los Cristianos...

My best fish was a 40kg stingray-------caught from a boat about 300 meters directly out from end
of pier in Playa San Juan. Bait was fresh dead sardine. I've only ever seen tiddlers being caught from shore.

Incidently no.1
I put a post in Tenerife Sports section asking if anyone knew of any angling clubs on the west or south coasts
the result nearly 600 views but not one reply.---VERY STRANGE!

Incidently no.2
I didn't know there is a tackle shop in Las Galletas, so will have to look hard next time. The last time I was in the
one behind pharmacy in Los Cris. they had LIVE ragworm (very small), and they were imported I look forward to trying
chipirones next time regards Paul

My OH buys sardines to use as bait tied on with string on long cane rod to catch crabs to use said caught crabs to go fishing with..... there is some logic there somewhere.... oh yes, he just loves fishing, any kind LOL.... we don't really go in for the big fish fishing. He just said buy the frozen chipirrones, cheaper :)
Have fun on your next fishing trip...

Licence is about 20€ and you get it from Santa Cruz, but the shop I mentioned in Las Galletas (literally by the entrance to Alborada Hotel) will do it for you, for a small fee, which is handy.....
