Here in the Largs area all ferries, buses and trains off until further notice - flood warnings, high tides and severe wind damage forecast.
The police have put parking restrictions in various parts of the town, I'm not sure if it's to allow the swans to swim up the High Street or the Ferry to park there.

The weather warning has gone from Yellow up to Amber, with Red being imminent....the only thing I can only think of doing is to head for the hills, as the waves are already hitting my sons windows! :-(

This is the warning that we have received......

A deepening area of low pressure is expected to track northeastwards, probably crossing the northwest of Scotland early on Thursday. To the south of this system, gales or severe gales are expected to develop. Gusts of 50-65 mph are likely quite widely through the warning area, whilst gusts of 75 mph are likely around southern and western coasts and over exposed hills. The public should be aware of the risk of localised disruption to transport and possibly power supplies. This warning has been updated to include the whole of Northern Ireland along with southern and central Scotland as far north as the Tay. The end time has also been extended further into Thursday to take account of very strong winds lasting longer into Thursday across parts of Scotland.

We get used to it and it sounds like a typical Spring Day!:D

This is your weather warning........

Later on Tuesday the risk of snow extends into northern England, especially across the Pennines and higher parts of Cumbria. Meanwhile, a more persistent spell of snow may settle at low levels across Scotland on Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning - see separate amber warning.

The public should be aware of the risk of disruption to transport.

This is an update to extent the yellow area further south across northern England and also to change the position in the risk matrix to allow for a low risk of some medium impacts.

This is our BBC Severe Weather Warning.......

Yellow warning of wind
Updated 14 January at 12:07

From: 03:00 on Thu 15 Jan
To: 21:00 on Thu 15 Jan
Southwesterly winds will increase early on Thursday morning with gales or severe gales and gusts of 60-70 mph developing, perhaps locally reaching 80 mph along the north coast of Northern Ireland and western coasts of southern Scotland. Winds will turn northwesterly during the late afternoon and evening, with gusts exceeding 70 mph across the Western Isles, before slowly easing. The previous warning, covering much of the UK, has been split in two; this warning for northern Britain commences later than previously, while its northeastward extent across Scotland has been reduced. The public should be aware of the risk of localised disruption to transport and possibly power supplies.

That means no buses, trains or ferries!:-(

A small amount of snow on the ground, but now it's a mixture of rain and snow....a mile or two from here at a slightly higher altitude it's a different story with roads blocked due to snow drifts. Yesterday evening there was a lot of local police activity attending to road accidents, at one incident a car had careered of the road and ended up in a reservoir....thankfully the occupants escaped with no injuries.

Once the dreaded shopping is done, it's a case of turning up the central heating and scoffing comfort food!:cheeky:

on topic - getting a bit breezy here

Mmmm...I might try that tonight-and of course with a large amount of Vodka!!

Still no more snow here, just some slippy slush on the pavements.
