They look great mate.
Ours is a black female.

They're known to be rather unfriendly, that's why the cats protection places are always full of them. Nobody wants them because they're not cuddly or friendly.

She will quite cheerfully bite us at any given opportunity. We've got used to it now but I'm hoping she stops as she gets a bit older. Now & again she'll surprise you & curl up next to you but that's few and far between.

I don't like leaving her myself but you have to get away don't you? She'll be well looked after.

LONG RANGE WEATHER FORECAST
March
Northern blocking is a term you may have heard a fair bit in recent years, and in March this is something the model is forecasting we'll be seeing again with pressure higher than average to the north of the UK keeping rainfall totals below normal across the northern half of the UK, with low pressure systems often being deflected further south - so parts of England and Wales seeing seeing rain levels closer to, or even above average. Temperatures are widely expected to be colder than the seasonal norm.

April
At the current time, pressure is forecast to be higher than average across much of Europe so a good deal of the UK is expected to be drier than average with just the northwest wetter. Temperatures are widely expected to be close to, or warmer than the seasonal average.
May
As usual, at this range the confidence levels really start to drop away, but at the current time our forecasting model is pointing towards the potential for some very wet weather during May, with temperatures close to average. :feret:

:feret::feret:Snow/Ice An area of rain and sleet moving from the south, will turn increasingly to snow as it does so. Towards some east coastal areas, heavy rain and sleet will perhaps remain more likely, with a risk of localised flooding, mainly in the east of Northern Ireland. However some heavy and persistent snowfall is likely to develop across many other areas, with in excess of 10 cm of snow in some inland parts, and perhaps much more than this over hills. Taking into account the strong to gale force winds, some atrocious conditions with drifting and blizzards are expected for many upland areas in particular, and it is increasingly likely that this warning will eventually be upgraded to Amber for parts of this region :feret::feret:

Not a flake in sight down here, MM. We have had some special horizontal Cornish drizzle most of the day getting heavier as darkness approached. There was 16mm of rain altogether when I checked just now - 'bout half an inch. Temperature is about 9C, which is where it has been most of the day. Not expecting any snow here, but you never know. :feret:Schools are shut and transport has been disrupted as any hopes of spring are dashed by yet another onslaught of snow and flooding.

Emergency services saw an early surge in weather-related call-outs as some parts of the country were hit by blizzard conditions. Government agencies issued a string of warnings urging the public to take care on the roads.

More flooding was expected in the South West as heavy rain endured throughout Thursday continued to fall.

Further north, snow blanketed many parts with up to eight inches expected to hit the worst affected areas of north west England, north Wales and south west Scotland.

Higher areas could even see up to 16 inches, while bitterly cold gale-force winds create blizzard-like conditions and plunge temperatures down to well below freezing.

In Yorkshire, Leeds Bradford International Airport suspended all flights due to "adverse weather conditions". The airport told passengers: "We advise you to contact your airline or tour operator and check the status of your flight before arriving at the airport."

Heavy overnight snow also caused severe traffic problems and school closures across West Yorkshire.

A number of schools were also closed across the Bradford and Huddersfield areas while in Derbyshire, dozens of schools, colleges and nurseries were closed as were several roads, mainly in the north of the county. Many schools in Nottinghamshire also closed their doors.

James Wilby, a forecaster for Meteogroup, said there was no prospect of any immediate let up in the conditions.

He said "The heavy rain, snow and strong winds will continue into the weekend, with the heavy snow spreading south to East Anglia and Bristol tomorrow (Saturday). And I'm sorry to say that there is no sign of things getting any better next week, it's going to remain cold and bleak

Britain faces a day of severe disruption as heavy snow, flooding and blizzard conditions blight the country.

Emergency services are already responding to a surge in weather-related call-outs with Government agencies issuing a string of warnings urging the public to take care on the roads.

More flooding is expected in the south-west as yesterday's heavy rain continues to pour throughout the day and overnight.

Snow is expected to blanket everywhere north of the M4 corridor, with up to eight inches hitting the worst affected areas of north-west of England, North Wales and south-west of Scotland.

Higher areas could even see up to 16 inches fall, while bitterly cold gale force winds will sweep across Britain creating blizzard-like conditions and plunging temperatures down to well below freezing.

Heavy rain sweeping across Northern Ireland will turn increasingly to snow with up to 12 inches across the hills of Down and Antrim, while on the east coast rain and sleet could cause localised flooding.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland has already reported road closures because of stranded vehicles on the A8 near Newtownabbey.

James Wilby, a forecaster for Meteogroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "It is really just nasty conditions across most of the UK.

"The snow will fall from the M4 northwards, quite lightly in the south but heavily in the north.

"Along with the heavy rain and flooding in the south-west, there will no doubt be a lot of disruption for the UK.

"The heavy rain, snow and strong winds will continue into the weekend, with the heavy snow spreading south to East Anglia and Bristol tomorrow.

"And I'm sorry to say that there is no sign of things getting any better next week, it's going to remain cold and bleak."

The Met Office has issued a number of severe weather warnings urging the public to be prepared for "severe disruption" to transport and energy services.

The Environment Agency has 18 flood alerts in place along the south-west coast warning of expected flooding, with a further 80 alerts issued to areas at risk.

Between 1.6 to 2.4 inches is set to fall over southern Devon and Cornwall today, and up to 4 inches on exposed southern slopes.

Last night Cornwall Council set up a designated control room to handle calls.

Spokesman Dave Owens said the county's fire and rescue service received more 50 calls, and eight properties had flooded.

He said: "The main problem still appears to be surface water flooding which is continuing to affect a number of areas across Cornwall."

There are reports of flooding across the west of the county, including around Newlyn and Penzance, as well as in Mevagissey in mid-Cornwall - a community still recovering from the impact of last year's torrential downpours.

Environment Agency spokesman Ben Johnstone said: "We strongly urge people to sign up to flood warnings on the Environment Agency website, keep a close eye on local weather forecasts and be prepared for possible flooding.

"We also ask that people stay safe and not try to wade or drive through any deep water."

Leeds Bradford International Airport has suspended all flights due to "adverse weather conditions".

The airport has told passengers: "We advise you contact your airline or tour operator and check the status of your flight before arriving at the airport."

The AA issued warnings to motorists that even short journeys could be difficult, and there could be a repeat of the scenes in southern England last week when hundreds of drivers were stranded in their cars overnight.

Darron Burness, the AA's head of special operations, said: "It's going to be a real witch's brew of driving wind, rain and snow, which will inevitably cause disruption on the roads.

"Drivers should be well prepared as even short journeys can quickly turn bad."

He warned of localised flooding, and urged drivers to stay out of flood water. He also said snow that settles could persist in the low temperatures, leading to icy patches.

"Wherever you're going, take plenty of warm layers, check the travel reports before heading out and stick to the main roads where possible," he said.

The Local Government Association said council gritting and ploughing teams would be out in force to try to ensure main roads remained passable where snow and freezing temperatures had been forecast.

Peter Box, chairman of the Local Government Association's economy and transport board, said hundreds of thousands of tonnes of salt had been spread this winter, but hundreds of thousands more tonnes were available in council depots and new deliveries were coming in.

And he said: "Council staff will be out and about over the next few days checking in on the people they know to be vulnerable and delivering hot meals and portable heaters, collecting prescriptions, defrosting pipes, fixing frozen boilers and making sure they have what they need."

But he also urged residents with elderly or vulnerable family or neighbours to check in on them to make sure they were coping with the latest freeze.

Sales of electric blankets at John Lewis have rocketed during this cold spell.

Chloe Harris, buyer for small electricals at John Lewis comments: “Not many of our customers have been able to escape the freezing temperatures and we have seen a 52 per cent rise in sales of electric blankets based on the same period last year.

"As consumers energy prices rise and temperatures drop, electric blankets are increasingly being seen as a good investment for people wanting that bit of extra warmth without heating the entire house.”

Try a nice pair of woolly gloves - they are usually pretty cheap and if you get your hands fairly warm before you put them in the gloves (or put on the gloves and stick your hands in your pocket until they warm up) you will find they do the job a treat. A woolly hat does the same thing and keeps your head nice and warm!

Morning all,

just back from Liverpool city centre. A pub I haven't been to before and a nightmare to get to..Grrr

Next on my list is a Ladies Changing Room at a factory in Warrington at 11:30........I may be some time..

Back on topic, as the gaffer says it's quite bright but a little cool.

I took this picture as I was walking back from the paper shop just now....

Another glorious day in sunny Cornwall. People on the beach and also swimming and the surf wasn't too bad either.

Top temp 13C in the garden but still a chilly breeze from the north east. It got the washing nice and dry though, MM!

Changeover day tomorrow so busy, busy, busy!!

Another frost for us..

But whilst it's currently 1 degree, it will be soaring up to 9 degrees later.

A nice sunny start to the day too.

Morning all. :tiphat:

Northwest weather today.

Wigan
4°C
Current: Partly Cloudy
Wind: E at 27 km/h
Humidity: 61%

I was going to say,'not a bad day' but then I realised it's 8th April.
So it's a rubbish day, too cold for the time of year.
The long term forecast is naff as well, it's going to get worse until the end of the month.

Where's TOTO 99.................?

Currently 2 degrees but feels cooler.

!0 degrees with sunshine has been promised later today....We're on the right side of it now ( fingers crossed ).

Hopefully a nicer day than yesterday given the disappointing unpleasantries on the forum....:respect:
