Whatever happened to summer in the UK?

We live in the sunny south (yeh right) and we currently have torrential rain with thunder and lightning. Friends in the north and Scotland have had better weather than we have recently, and Poole is teeming with holidaymakers! :goodluck:

It started off lovely here this morning. I went to the gym and when I came out at 11.00am it was so hot in the car that I decided to put the roof down - I just got home in time before the rain started!! :( It's really looking black over Bill's mothers and I'm sure I heard some thunder a while ago!!

A lovely warm and sunny day here in Ayrshire, its the start of the Viking Festival and there was a aerobatic display which was great with the sun reflecting on the planes and the sailing boats below as they race around the Isle of Cumbrae.:)

What aeroplanes have to do with the Vikings, is a mystery to me.:confused:

Well when we flew in it was 16 degrees, which for me is usually fine - but after 30 plus degrees in Tenerife it is now flippin' frio!!! :( - my bod is still suffering from sunburn!!

Fab holiday though - did everything I said I would never do and did nothing I said I would do!! Fantastic holiday!! :) :) :)

HA!!!HA!!! This should be good ........as you've been missing for nearly two weeks......we searched
under the tables, in all the bars---- in Veronicas / Los Cris / Palm Mar / Los Gigantes
and even caves on the side of Teide We were just about to start searchin' the Lap-Dancing
joints. Now the truth please!!!

Anyway the weather here in Birmingham is fab about 16 degrees

I went to all those places you mentioned, except Veronicas wasn't late at night!! You've not been back long, we must meet up in the dungeon and compare notes!! :)

I also want to hear all about the German market !! ;)

Weather here was beautiful yesterday, got up to 20 degrees in the end. :)

Rainfall so far is 0.06mm and maximum wind force is 6 which is 26mph or 41.84kph or 24knots. Lowest temperature overnight was 4.8C. Wind now blowing at approx 12mph/19.31kph.
Grass is growing approx 1mm per day and cows are still out by day. Washing is hanging on the line and wild birds are feeding on the feeders when they aren't pooping on the washing.

This mornings weather, winds up to 96mph, rain, causing ferries off, slates off roofs, trains disrupted, floods, bridges closed, blizzards forecast. Another good start for the New Year and the day that many people should be returning to work.

On the bright-side, it keeps the wife away from the January sales and my wallet intact!:lol:

Wheelie bins being blown down street and neighbour's back fence looks like going soon ! Yuck! 1 week to go to get back to Tenerife!

Sunny and breezy and the NW wind is really cold. Still more washing out - getting caravans ready for season and can't waste the dry weather!

Oh, yes, very nice and sunny and I like the sheep - are they put there just for the webcam? Misty here too depending on where you are. Inland it's okay on the coast visibility is minimal. My OH was sowing fertiliser and said he wasn't sure where he was going half the time - but that could be normal for him!! :wink2:

Now officially a drought in the SE, hose pipe ban from April. supposedly a worse situation than 1976. So in over 30 years nothing has been done to move water from the wetter western side of the country to the drier east. And still plans to build over 150,000 houses in the area. Could it be share a bath with your neighbour in the future?:crazy:

Am posting now! Have spent the last two days mowing grass in the caravan park - now have backache, leg-ache, arm-ache, etc. It's a bu**er getting old!! However, the weather reached a superb 24.5C today and I had to come in and change my shirt for a thinner one as it was so hot. Roll on tomorrow!
