The crew of the film Montevideo, bog te video, led by director Dragan Bjelogrlic, has completed the shooting on the Spanish island of Tenerife. The production is the sequel to one of the most successful films in the history of Serbian cinematography – a story dedicated to the immense achievement of the Yugoslavia football team in 1930, who won fourth place at the inaugural World Cup in Uruguay.

The sequel was filmed on Tenerife, a location which served as a 1930s’ Uruguay. Intermedia Network production company once again hired a number of high-profile actors to appear in the second part of the Montevideo... storyline, while a cameo role has been handed to a young, sought-after Spanish actress Carla Sanchez, who appears in the Spanish hit television show Aqusados [The Accused].

Carla Sanchez has featured in films such as Madrigal, Lolita’s Club, Luna caliente and Fernanda. In the Serbian production, she portrays a local femme fatale Blanca, who catches the eye of young Yugoslav footballers, who are, among others, played by Milos Bikovic and Petar Strugar.

Apart from Sanchez, also appearing in the film is popular Bosnian actor Branko Djuric, playing a Yugoslav expat living in Montevideo and working in the hotel where the football team are staying during the 1930 World Cup. Djuric has this year been involved in Hollywood productions such as Cat Run, as well as Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut In the Land of Blood and Honey.

Celebrated Serbian actor Dragan Nikolic portrays the legendary FIFA president of the time, Jules Rimet, who was the world football’s governing body’s top official for 33 years, from 1921 to 1954 and was the initiator of the World Cup.

Part of the shooting process for the second instalment of Montevideo, bog te video was done on a specially-built ship on location in the village of Baranda.

This is where the scenes of the cruise across the Atlantic Ocean were shot, as the national football team were making their way to Montevideo. Among the passengers, there is a rich American of Greek origin played by Efstratios Tzortzoglou, while famous Serbian female model Natasa Vojnovic also had a cameo appearance in the film.

As for the actors who portray the characters of Yugoslav football players, the cast is the same as in the original film: Milos Bikovic (Aleksandar Tirnanic “Tirke”), Petar Strugar (Blagoje Mosa Marjanovic), Viktor Savic (Milutin Ivkovic Milutinac), Andrija Kuzmanovic (Milovan Jaksic), Aleksandar Radojicic, Uros Jovcic, Nenad Herakovic, Rade Cosic, Milan Nikitovic, Bojan Krivokapic. On the sequel project they were joined by young actor Ivan Zekic, playing the role of one of the most prolific players in the team, Ivica Bek. There is also a 13-year-old boy Predrag Vasic, who plays Stanoje, as well as more experienced Serbian film and theatre actors Vojin Cetkovic, Nebojsa Ilic, Nikola Djuricko, Srdjan Todorovic and Srdjan Timarov.

The crew of Montevideo, bog te video are these days preparing for the next leg of shooting, which will take place in Belgrade and Baranda.
