Every time I see this question or join in conversations the answer is always the same; Google.

But I have always used Yahoo for virtually everything. My daughter does think I'm a computer dinosaur though..

I remember the time when Altavista was by far the best... But nowadays; Google, no competition.

Google baby! I use it as a homepage, you can add all sorts of widgets for weather, news feeds etc.

As the OP has disappeared, let's change the question a tad ...

Can you remember when you first used Google ... I don't remember my first search, but certainly remember being told about Google for the first time in 2000 by a Management Consultant (all the trendy young ones were using it)

What is now Google Groups, yes. A nuisance, since many users don't understand it's actually a gateway to usenet. (Or, partly. Originally it was, but not all of it any more, I believe.) But they still have the usenet archives from well back in the 80's...

I don't really remember when I started using Google... as mentioned earlier in this thread, I used to use Altavista in the 90's, and as far as I remember I didn't use anything else between that and Google... but have no idea when it started.
I remember I certainly used Google well before they bought Deja News, though... probably at least a couple of years before.

I started using it in 1998 after I read an article on it in a computer mag...............it was not the speed that attracted me, it was the lack of adverts :)
