I have paddled ankle deep up the main street in Los Cris and have watched the lightning light up El Hierro and then La Gomera before it reached us. Have had apartments flooded, swimming pools flooded with muddy water, seen concrete block walls knocked over by the force of the water coming down an old barranco. It's all great fun! There was a tropical storm about five or six years ago which made a real mess and I believe the wind reached a speed of 125kph in La Palma. But, as you say, it is always warm and over fairly quickly.

Haven't you ever been out there in a storm? It's fantastic. I have paddled ankle deep up the main street in Los Cris and have watched the lightning light up El Hierro and then La Gomera before it reached us. Have had apartments flooded, swimming pools flooded with muddy water, seen concrete block walls knocked over by the force of the water coming down an old barranco. It's all great fun! There was a tropical storm about five or six years ago which made a real mess and I believe the wind reached a speed of 125kph in La Palma. But, as you say, it is always warm and over fairly quickly.Storm Delta!! Quite an experience!:cheeky:

That's the one. I think it was in 2005 wasn't it? It was a real rip-snorter and nearly blew the windows into the apartment. It all adds to the fun and excitement of the holiday IMO!!

Sunbeds in swimming pools, vegetation on paths about a foot deep, everything flying everywhere, ferries having to "lie off" as they couldn't get into the harbour and the recently planted poinsettas totally blown out the flower beds!!
