I have been collecting old photographs and postcards of tenerife for some time now. They are relatively cheap to buy and some are easy to fing over the internet. Here are a couple that some of you may find of interest.

992
This old postcard show the Torres del Sol in the forground of Los Cristianos, you can see the beginnings of Las Americas in the background. This postcard is early 70's.

993
Even further back in time is this photograph of the Los Gigantes Plaza, where the church now stands. This photograph shows it's early days of construction in 1960

994
Unrecognisable now, but this is infact the Avenida de Suecia in 1965. Isn't it amazing how quickly this area was transformed.

This is a photo of one of the streets in Santa Cruz around 1920. It looks so much nicer then than it does now.

I have some really nice postcards which I will scan over the next couple of days to share with you. They all range from 1900 ish to about 1935. Santa Cruz just looks such a lovely place in those days. What glares out at you with the old poscards is that both Teide and the Drago tree, Icons that they are, remain ever the same amongst all the change that has gone on around them.
