Spoke to Lloyds bank today qho quated 1.08 euros to the pound !!
We all know not to exchange money in Hotels as they are a complete rip off.
So can you get a decent rate of exchange by going to some of the small exchange type shops in the south
of Tenerife ??

Regards Cliff

Yep, the commercial rate today is 1.14 and so you should get 1.12 at the local exchange shops in Tenerife

XE.com quotes €1.13793 to the pound. So you should get €1.11-€1.12 in Tenerife

You shouldnt need a paspport to change cash sterling, passports would be required for travllers cheques though.

Make sure whichever shop you exchange cash that there is no commission, Tenerife Sunshine and Admiral travel do not charge commission.

The chappie in Western Union at Amandas quite often asks for a Passport - my personal experience !

He has no need whatsoever to request passports when changing cash!!!! Cheques are a different matter, but definitely not cash

I have always found Red Arrow Exchange (opp. Zara) to be very reasonable.

got 1.12 exchange rate today in Golf del Sur in a tourist shop next to Banca March ... the shop in the opposite corner of the square was only offering 1.10 to the pound ...
