BO’NESS swimming sensation Jak Scott has helped Great Britain power its way to a men’s 4x200m freestyle relay place at next summer’s London Olympics.

Grahamsdyke’s Jak (20) has to wait until next March for the trials in London to determine if he is among the quartet representing the host nation in the pool.

But the Commonwealth silver medallist’s currently celebrating the fact that his performance among the relay team last Friday at the World Swimming Championships in Shanghai, China, has booked the country’s Olympic spot.

In his first Great Britain international cap with the senior team Jak swam the third leg of the relay, marginally improving his times in the heat and the final, in which the foursome finished sixth behind winners America.

Dad Jim, himself a swimming official, told the Journal and Gazette: “He was quite excited about the whole thing.

“The fact of standing on the block and hearing the crowd - the whole atmosphere of being there, with the shouting and the waving, he said it was just an unbelievable experience in itself.”

Ex-Linlithgow Academy pupil Jak, now a Stirling University student, has training camps in Tenerife, Arizona and South Africa ahead of the Olympic trials.
