Apparently you need to have worked a minimum of 15 years in Tenerife (Spain) in order to get a Spanish pension - however, isn't there a reciprocal agreement with the UK that if you've worked in Spain or the UK for over 15 years you can still get a Spanish pension? If anyone knows pls could you let me know as soon as possible? Thanks.

Thanks.I know several people who having worked for more than 3 years in Spain after working in the UK. have been able to claim a pension of 250/300€ per month. If you are working legally in Spain when you get to be pension age, then you have to claim your pension in Spain and they link up with the pension office in the UK.

You can combine your pension entitlement from the Uk with any years here to get a Spanish pension .Its a little complicated but cna be done. You must know of course your full work history to complete the forms here or else they will just reject your claim

Its very straightforward you claim your European pension in the country in which you last paid contributions.
On the form are segments for each country you worked in, If you have full entitlement in the UK (30 years) then you will receive a full pension from the UK and a pro rata (very roughly the number of full time equivalent years you worked in Spain divided by 40 as a fraction of a basic Spanish Pension.
If you do not have full qualifying in either country, then they are obliged to get you the best option they can by combining the qualifying periods.
Be warned this can take months!!! but it is back dated when it arrives.
For those in the south the form is presented at Granadilla and you will need to make an appointment before going.
Take your forecast info/letter from the UK saying you have to apply in Spain which will show your UK estimate entitlement, Green Certificate, Passport, and if married details and documents for your spouse as well. Make sure you have an up to date empadronamiento because part of the top up of the Spanish part of the payment is allowable if you are actually resident in the Canarys. The application form can be downloaded from the Social security website, but make sure you pick the European one.
