With a bit of luck Tenerife could enjoy an attendance of over 10,000 supporters this Sunday lunchtime. In comparison with other clubs in Spain at lower levels this is an impressive figure, see below;

SEGUNDA B Grupo 1:

Tenerife - Vecindario 8.206 esp.
Leganes - Oviedo 4.000 esp.
Castilla - sporting b 2.500 esp.
La Roda - Coruxo 1.500 esp.
Celta B - Lugo 1.200 esp.
San Sebastian - Marino 800 esp.
Getafe B - Albacete 800 esp.
Rayo - Alcala 600 esp.
Montañeros- Conquense 500 esp.

Infact, the attendance in our first match was better than many in the Spanish 2nd division.

ASISTENCIAS LIGA ADELANTE

Deportivo-Recreativo: 20.000 esp.
Hércules-Cartagena: 9.000 esp.
Murcia-Celta: 8.036 esp.
Córdoba-Almería: 6.000 esp.
Sabadell-Huesca: 4.000 esp.
Alcoyano-Numancia: 3.600 esp.
Gimnástic-Valladolid: 4.000 esp.
Guadalajara-Las Palmas: 3.500 esp.
Alcorcón-Xerez: 3.000 esp.
Girona-Elche: 2.391 esp.
Barcelona Atlétic-Villarreal B: 1.500 esp.

Attendances will rise slightly everywhere as people return from holidays(many people in Spain have the whole month of August off). But even taking into account that Spain has a far lower population than the UK it shows that a whole generation is far more interested in watching Barca or Madrid on the tv than following their local side.

Other news is that the famous website about a possible new stadium for CD Tenerife(it hit the headlines when we were promoted in 2009) has been updated recently. Lets face it, it is a pipe dream at the moment and not needed but one day who know´s? Good website though.
