Try Vodafone, one in Las Chafiras near McD's. There is a Vodafone shop in Los Cris but not sure where.

35 euro to buy, comes with 20 euro credit. Thereafter it is 19 euro a month for 1gb of data.

I know all this because bought one recently!

You need to take your passport with you.

€19 a month will give you 1 gig a month. How many hours in the month can you use the internet before the 1 gig is used up ?

Ive just read the best broadband thread which has reminded me that I need to get a dongle to use for 3 months.
So I would like some help and advise please

Where is the best place to go to buy one (south tenerife)
Are there different providers for the service, and if so who is the best provider for a dongle
How much as I likely to pay

Thanks for any help!

If you type dongle into search box at top you will get multiple threads on topic.

Heya,

I wondered if anyone had information on PAYG internet dongles and if they are worth their money / need regular top-ups; or if it would be better to get an internet line. It would be for light usage, not heavy downloading.

Any info would be much appreciated,
Debbie

Do you have your own place? If so, if it has had a line installed previously, the offer from Europa might be of use to you.. You get up to 3mb Internet and some inclusive calls for 19,99€ per month.. Contact forum member TIS for details if you're interested.

We bought a Spanish orange dongle from EBay. Was £49 but came with one months Internet.
I top it up online with the guy who bought dongle from. Get unlimited usage for 40e a month.
It's handy for us as we out intermittently!

Sue. When you say "unlimited" just how unlimited is it. ie. Can you use Skype then watch what,s on UK tv using your VPN (if you still have it) all for the monthly charge?

Timmy you get 5gb for 30 days. My hubby used Skype on it and watched a few football matches.

We had a Vodafone one and 30 euros was only 2gb for 30 days.

For us the Orange reception is better and connects 9 out of 10 times.

Not sure about VPN Timmy have never used, but would think you'd be better with a fixed broadband line for that.

We very happy with Orange.

Use search facility on here for Dongle - there is a mountain of information and experience - A1 Computers in San Eugenio shopping is very helpful as are some others .

Firstly, looking in the correct section of the forum is a good start. You posted in 'General Chat', which is about everything non-Tenerife. If you read the descriptions of each section under their titles, you get a better idea about what each section specialises in. I have merged your thread with an existing one in the 'Television, Internet, and Telecommunications in Tenerife' section, which deals with Internet dongles and where to buy them in Tenerife.

Secondly, when posting, it's a good idea to say exactly where you are located. This forum covers all Tenerife, so if you do not say, a member in the south or west may answer with completely irrelevant information. Be as specific as you can.

Thirdly, as junglejim said, use the search facility. The question you asked is probably one of the most asked and answered ones on the forum these days. If you use the live search box in the top right corner of the forum and type in 'dongle' 'PAYG' 'mobile internet' or any other keywords you can think of, you'll pull up literally 100s of threads that will answer your question.

Hopefully this will help you find information of the forum more easily in the future. :)

If you purchase a 'MIFI dongle', you should be able to use it with all your WIFI phones/PCs/Laptops at the same time.

Being a cellular to WIFI unit, you can place it round the apartment that gets best 3g reception - then WIFI the data to the Laptop down stairs etc.

Some MIFI unit supports external antenna too - making it very useful in low signal areas and thus providing faster internet .
