Cairo

New computer and downloaded Avast antivirus software (as recommended by many on this very forum), done a scan today and got 3 files (all C:\Windows\SysWOW64\kernal32.dll blah de blah de blah) coming up as a HIGH threat with the recommendation to move to Chest, when I try to do so I come up with the message Error: Access is denied (5). When I got to Avast and search for help with this message it tells me that it comes up with no results for this phrase.

Any suggestions??

Hi Cairo, not the sort of thing you want on ya nice new computer, if your running microsoft windows they now themselves offer a free virus-anti/mal/scumware program. It's very good and being microsoft integrates superbly...no more messing around installing and uninstalling different anti virus programs every 30days, 3 months, 6 months, yearly!.. cor even writing about it has wore me out lol. Try this link.

Give it a go you can always uninstall it :)

Hi Cairo, I posted a long answer to your problem yesterday but the moderators have not passed it, maybe it's cos it had a link in it!!
Basically the email was to let all you folks know that Microsoft do their own Free Anti-Virus/Adware,scumware Program so you no longer have to waste time and money installing and re-installing paid for ones when they run out.
I my experience all free and paid for anti virus program become messy slow and troublesome afer a few years even weeks or days...No longer The microsoft one integrates as only microsoft programs can and works superbly.
It's called Microsoft security essentials, if you google it you'll find it :)
If you see a mod on your travel give them a poke to wake them up for me ;)
Give it a go folks you can always uninstall and go back to your old ones if for some reason you don't like it

Ahhh, perfect...or not so perfect.... that was kind of what I was thinking it might be, a bit scary though when it tell you it is a high threat risk, zzzzz.

Thanks to all who posted replies :)

Chrislaff, as a Mod - oops :( To be honest, as far as my modding abilities go, I think the problem lies in that if your post is at the start of a thread and is auto-modded the whole thread is modded and made easy for mods to spot, if a post in an exisitng thread is modded a mod had to read through the whole thread and hopefully the automodded post will jump out at them to authorise.

Clear as mod, Cairo! Hope you got the avast sorted out. I'm pretty happy with it but it hasn't thrown me any curveballs as yet!

What Cairo means is that if a new member posts links in their first couple of posts then then it is automatically modded as an anti spam measure, which is why you don't see too much spam on here.

The auto modder cannot distinguish between a porn site and a genuine link which is why early posts with links have to be checked

Normally this goes by unnoticed but we have been a bit bogged down lately.

Our apologies
