Am I imagining it or is that snow on the top of Teide?

son and friends staying in a villa in torviscas alto, this morning they thought it was snow they were seeing .... to the unknown eye it looked very much like it was snow...
of course it was cloud but the cloud was in the form of the cone of the volcano ...unfortunately i hadn,t a camera available...

Fantastic photo btw!
However I can assure you there was no snow to-day on Teide. Optical illusion here! If you look to the left there is the tail of the mass of cloud which has accrued to the mountain top.
In any event the air temperature to-day would have made it impossible.

It was cloud, shaped just like the top of the volcano, quite an optical illusion for the people that live here! :)

Me and my other half saw it today and commented how impressive and unusual it was. ;)

I saw it as well and almost walked into a bloody sign post while looking at it because I just couldn't work out what I was seeing. Well it was early and I was on my way to work ;)

In Canarybird's photo it looks like a Lenticular cloud, which I've seen before over Teide, although I am sure that was in winter time. Google images have some great examples.

All brilliant photos. Carol and Steve's photo's are what I saw, with the surrounding mountain ranges covering the edge of the cloud unlike Canarybird's photo where you can see the edges of it.

Here is a lenticular cloud over Teide exactly four years ago today.

I was preparing the Tenerife North weather thread this morning and thought it was a
coincidence that this photo showed up as being on this date.

When is it likely to be covered in snow? Saving my next trip for some good snow photos...

Usually late November/Dec.

Not last winter but the one before have never seen so much snow on the lower hills too.

Hi, a couple of years ago, there was snow below the snow line above Oratava. The local children were having a great time.

Think that was the December when we could see it on the low lying hills!
