I need some sort of timing device which can be linked to the air conditioning units and set to turn the units off after a preset time has elapsed. Does anybody on the forum know if there is such a device and if so where they sell them. Thanks in advance.

A simple on/off central heating clock would do it .

Only if you know what times you want the AC to go off and on but if you want it off when no one is in the property the use of a Pir detector is the is best way

If you are in Tenerife, you should find a programmable clock device in any electrical supply or hardware shop.

Ask for a "temporizador eléctrico". Also good for turning lights on and off at different times when you're not home.

it'll depend upon the AC equipment, some you can just plug in via a timer but larger ones need a massive supply of their own which a 13amp plug won't cope with. Most AC units have timers built in, our does, and it has 'snooze' option which makes the unit start cold and slowly work its way up to a higher temp before cutting out.

If it is for a property you rent out and the aircon is being left on while your clients are not in or have the windows open etc have a look here- www.meridianwindows.net/meter.html
