If you have an animal that you need to re home or want to adopt an animal then there is a new web site that may just be what you are looking for. There are several facebook pages helping re home pets but no one central hub that will help both facebook users and those who don't use facebook. Anyone (including organisations and refuges) can ask to register (for free) to upload their animal needing adoption or if you would prefer supply me with a picture and details and I will do it for you. If you are wanting to adopt a pet then browse the pictures and information to find your perfect companion.

Over the coming months this site will also be in Spanish and be publicised on the radio and news papers.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

It's easy.

The excuses that I've heard are. "I can't afford to take him back" said the bloke smoking his fags in the bar!

"He won't get on with the flight"
"It'll be kinder to leave him here"
"He's too old to travel now"
"I've got nowhere to live when I get back so I can't take a dog with me"
"He won't get on with my mum's dog"
"The UK will be too cold for him"
"He's just a dog"

Every single excuse is selfish, just admit it your a terrible owner!

I also remember a heart wrenching story of a dog that was left at K9 animal shelter. The car stopped just long enough for the dog to be taken out of the car before the car sped off over the hill. The distressed dog then chased after the car with his owner in it and for all anybody knows it is still searching for the car now as the dog was never found.
K9 also asked people that if they were insistent on leaving their pet tied to the shelter gates then could they please have the decency to leave something with the dogs name on it. :(

I've said it before, shelter are for certain dogs IMHO, orphaned dogs, dogs that haven't settled or welcomed new babies into the family and other special cases such as litters of puppies that have been born wild. Shelters are not for rejected pets!

All the excuses that I've heard are pitiful, there are no excuses and I do not care if that sounds bigoted!

As people also know on here, we returned in January 2013 with 4 dogs (very large dogs) and a baby. We didn't have money but we did have a structured plan.
We knew how much we needed, we knew how much our assets were worth (then we halved the value to be safe) we kept it a secret for as long as possible as if you mention you're leaving no work comes your way!

A flight for 1 person and a dog can be as little as €700. You'll be hard pressed to find a 2nd hand car on Tenerife for that amount, so selling a a car will get you both home. Your apartment deposit refund. Or selling a TV, jewellery, mobile phone, laptop, Ipad, household items! Everything has a value especially in Tenerife. There's jobs out there that people don't want to do but if it's for a short period of time get scrubbing those toilets, drop of those blanket tour leaflets, car washing, car boot sales, buy cheap trinkets at the Chinese shops and sell them at a slight profit at Guaza or Silencio markets.
It's not enough to support a family but it will be enough to get you home with your dog.

If anyone has any ideas on how to earn a little extra cash then please post it here.

Below are some contact details of a company that deal with the airlines directly and you will find their prices to be a fraction of Ladyhaye.

TFA logistics http://www.tfalogistics.com/pet_travel_quotations.html and there is a very helpful lady there called Sue Atchinson 0845 6809002 or ouside UK 004 1753 685 393 email sue@tfalogistics.com who can help.
No need for a middleman, you phone Sue up, you say what flight you want your pet on and she quotes you. All you need is the passport, the vet check that your dog is ok to travel an airline approved crate that allows your dog adequate room.
Although you can fly pet out from most UK airports only a few UK airports are equipped to receive pets so you many be restricted to where to want to fly back into. I think Glasgow is equipped.

Hi to one and all.

I will be driving to the UK with my wife and my pet dog. The drive will not be an A to B as fast as we can but a holiday. Our dog loves driving around in the car and has never had a problem with it.
I have read some of the conflicting stories and the worries but, there is a company who transport pets back to the UK and they do this by road and I have never heard that there has ever been a problem with the animals.
I am open to responsible non rude replies and suggestions.
I am open to any advice as far as vets / paperwork and so on. This is not aimed at anyone and is not in any way meant to be detrimental.
I look forward to some possitive response.

We just got back from Tenerife this week after another lovely holiday and what beautiful weather this time not a cloud in the sky. I ccould not believe the amount of dogs people now have. I am a dog lover but even I could not work out some of the breeds. Here we talk of a mongrel or if its really obscure a 57 Heinz variety but the dogs here go to a whole new level. But its time for a law as in Britain to pick up dog mess, the place stinks in parts itis horrendous in the alleyways and shortcuts, wont be using them again. There were some responsible dog owners but they were few and far between over at Arona Gran hotel the place is a dog toilet. Its not very welcoming for the folk who frequent that hotel and no ,we did not stay there, but love to walk aii over L A and L C and its the same everywhere we went.
