Just wondering how informative the coach excursions are for Mount Teide?

I am hiring a car for the week I'm in Tenerife so would probably be a lot cheaper just to drive to Mount Teide than going on an organised excursion. Taking the car also means we could go at our own pace and stop for photos wherever we wanted. However, I have read that the excursions have very informed tour guides so might be worth paying extra in order to actually make the most of the trip.

Just wanting advice from people who have been on the excursions and which company they used. How informative were they? How big were the group sizes? Were you only able to hear the info if you managed to get to the front group? Did you feel as though you were being rushed through the trip?

I'm not interested in the "go out and get smashed everyday" although I do like a good drink every now and then.

I was wondering if anyone has done this and would recommend it? I have been up to Teide myself before in the car but missed going to Masca at Christmas with the family as I was Ill in bed. :cry:It looks really good fun but I have been car sick before when there are lots of winding roads, but thought the open top might help!

We don't have a car this time so have to do organised tours instead.

Also Im really interested in a trekking tour on la Gomera, bike rafting, and maybe a boat trip with snorkelling so wondered if anyone had done any of these as well.
