I use the internet cafes with the phone booths, they are really cheap and you get peace and quiet.I called a landline the other day for 6 mintues and it was only 1 euro. I use the one downstairs at the commercial centre at the patch, playa de las americas.

You can buy a phone card like Tigercard that will reduce your cost- €5 , you then pay local call price .

Depends where you stay ,most Asian phone shop sell them and can be used on payphones - only pay the face value of the card !
