What is the law regarding driving on a non Spanish Driving License in Tenerife?

What is the law regarding driving here on the new European driving license the one with the small steering wheel symbol on the rear side is it legal because there seems to be some confusion. Please dont answer unless you are 100% certain there is too much guesswork in Tenerife especially by the racist police force here who seem to delight in harassing British people

The police are not racist, they harass everybody.

If you have an EU photo licence, you have one of two choices;-

1. Register it with trafico. This takes about 2 - 3 months, but they give you a document allowing you to still drive in Spain whilst it is processed in Madrid.
2. Take a driving medical every 5 years, and keep the certificate with you when driving.

Although these laws have been passed, the interior ministry have stated that they will only be enforced with fines as from January 2015.
