If the child has a different name it is a yes but would get a letter from other parent to be on the safe side
If a Spanish child (under the age of 18) is travelling (from TCI to the UK and back) with only one parent, does the travelling adult need a note from the child's other parent approving the travel? This wasn’t’ necessary four years ago but the world wasn’t the same world four years ago.

This is a very interesting question and made me check the UK rules on this as I had no idea. Apparently in the uk You automatically have parental responsibility if you’re the child’s mother, but you still need the permission of anyone else with parental responsibility before you take the child abroad. I had no idea this was the law. I have travelled alone with both of my children many times and never thought to get a note from hubby to take them. Good job I've never been asked! Guessing most countries work on the same principles but whether it's checked or not is another thing!
