Where have the hardware stalls gone from the markets in Tenerife?

There used to be a Ferreteria at the mercadillos I seem to remember, selling pots,pans, knifes gas burners and all sorts of hardware. No more. Whats happened to them. Have noticed the absence of them at other markets on the mainland as well.
