I don't know how to advise, but I take it your property is in the UK?
I think you need to ask the companies who install these cameras. In the UK it seems anyone can just fit them and be done with it but here I am led to believe they are very strict on them. I also think you may need a permit if the camera is covering any public access. If you look at places like petrol stations you will see a yellow sign displayed giving a permit number and address of the business. Don't sniff at the data protection laws as the fines can be huge.

not sure if its still there a shop called the spy shop upstairs in the cine centre Torviscas opposite movistar the owners scani speaks good english
have a chat with him
The property is in Los Cristianos.
I have researched quite a bit on the matter. It seems to come down in favour of being able to install a CCTV camera, as long as it is for the security of your property, and it does not record any neighbouring properties, which in my case, the property is on the top floor and has no properties facing it only neighbours either side. Their front doors are at least 30 foot away from mine.
I will be putting up a sign to declare that a CCTV camera is in use, I will not be storing any data it will be deleted on a regular basis. I fully take on board what "Information" has said about not sniffing at the Data Protection Laws. I am just looking to protect my property which I have invested a lot of money in.
You can never be too sure on this type of legal area.
Timmylish's advice sounds good to me
