Police bookings at the airport parking in South Tenerife

Picking up friends at Tenerife Airport today I witnessed local police booking unattended cars at the drop offand pickup point. Rightly so. Why do people do it, taking up needed spaces. Its not nessesary with everybody owning mobiles.

It happens because there are too many cheapskates who can't afford/can't be @rsed to use the car park for a fee of €1 or less so use the "drop-off" point to pick arriving people up. I too saw the policia local man at the drop off point this morning and would have happily assisted him in "booking" people if he'd have accepted my offer, which he (politely) declined. Mind you I've seen "locals" picking up people on the main entrance/exit road opposite the 2nd entrance to the car park which is really taking the pi$$.
