4 months till moving day...

Hi everyone

I just wanted to send a general 'hi' email to the forum. My husband and I are moving to Tenerife in August as he has a new 2 year teaching contract over there...all very exciting! I'm guessing there are lots of people on here who have moved over for a few years so I was wondering if there was anything you wish you'd known before moving, or any words of wisdom to share? I would like to find us somewhere to live that is with a family, what I would call a home-stay, where I could work during the day for the family doing cleaning/house work etc. in return for accommodation ... I've found the WorkAway website and Housesitters page but is there anywhere else that would be worth a look?
