Depends on your TV, it needs to be able to read the USB and play the Drive, alternately some DVD players will accept USB's and play through that.
I am shortly coming to Tenerife for a few weeks - the apartment has very slow community wifi so I was looking for a way to watch programmes without streaming. I would like to be able to download tv series etc from iPlayer onto a flashdrive so I could then take it to Tenerife pre-loaded with stuff to watch, to just plug into tv there without using wifi. Is this an impossible thing to do? Or any other ideas would be much appreciated. My problem is the poor streaming so short of
taking box sets for the dvd I dont know what else to do

Ok thanks, my dvd here has a usb but think the one in the apartment we are going to is quite old so probably hasnt got one. Do all those thingies like chromecast, kodi etc have to use streamed content only?
If you have sky q, you can download programmes to view "Off line"
I player does have a download service, never tried it but:
While watching online, you may also want to download the videos for offline playback. BBC iPlayer Downloads is a new service of BBC iPlayer that enables you download videos to watch offline. But with this new service, you can just keep the programmes for 30 days and 7 days once you start to play the programmes.
