We have to do that all the time with our 2 , son aged 3 and daughter aged 8 , reason being my daughter has cyclical vomiting and one of her triggers is excitement so I wake her up and tell her then have to give her medicine straight away otherwise she would get in a right state , we go away 5/6 times a year the look on their faces is still a picture everytime !

Is that Tueday the 10th of June?

If your looking for a realy good authentic paella, try Raemonds Restaurant, it's where the locals eat. From the beach walk past the church and it's close to the two petrol stations.

If you fancy a steak, try the Miami Restaurant, it's not too pricy. The restaurant is on the seafront opposite the abandoned villa.

For a special meal, try the Fortuna Restaurant, where lamb is their speciality, but don't eat anything for at least six hours before going as the portions are enormous, yet are still excellent quality.

Have a great holiday.

I still remember July 2012 and still laugh the evening with you at the Linaris2 restaurant, when the Chinese girl put the tea cosy hat on your head and the silly glasses on you that they sell, you sat there with a deadpan face and carried on with our conversation as if you were oblivious to them, while the rest of the punters in the restaurant were crying with laughter at you.:D

Built up my Monarch Vantage points very quickly because it's based on price of flights and we always travel in school holidays. So had built up enough for us all to get free flights. I still have enough for a free one way journey as well. Problem is the free flights are only available in the 6 week school hols or any other time apart from half terms when we usually travel so not wanting to loose them I'm coming over in the summer.

Oops sorry for being so nosey, I was thinking that was for two of you only.Never stayed there myself but have friends who would not stay anywhere else but could not believe what they wanted to charge for Privilege and like yourselves declined and took the basic holiday which is expensive too I think . Hope you have a lovely holiday.

logiclee
19-07-2014, 17:38
When they first introduced privilege it was 15 Euros per person per night which is worth it for us. in the two years it went to 18 and then 26 Euros per person per night.

We rang the hotel last year and got it for 18 but that was still borderline for us. This year it's 30Euros per person per night which is way too much for what we use.

Fortunately one of the room upgrades that Thomson offer is a Premium Room with Sea View that includes Privilege. It's an extra £22 per person per night but as a Sea View is an extra £10 per person per night anyway you are paying £12 per person per night for Privilege which is back down to the original 15Euro price. But these rooms are very limited.

The reason the hotel gives for doubling the cost of Privilege is you can now eat for free in the sea view restaurant but even so some meals are charged extra.

In 2011 we paid 700 Euros for a Junior suite and privilege. For 2015 you'd pay £840 to upgrade to Junior Suite and 840 Euros for Privilege. I love the hotel but that's too much money for what you get extra.

I wrote a lengthy review on trip advisor last year which resulted in a series of emails with the hotel. We are fairly friendly with Maria the customer services manager. I believe part of the cost increase is to cover the amount of drink stolen from the Privilege lounge which is a free self service bar. I must say I witnessed some drink being taken out while I was there and it was not the British doing it.

We are on a short break at the moment in Torquay, it took us about 3.5 hours to get here getting stuck on the motorway in blistering heat at droitwich,Bristol and Torquay itself, went to a nice pub at the marina San Miguel £4.50 a pint single Tia Maria and coke £3.00, descided to go for another drink in wether spoons at 11.30 they where shut, so where the other pubs around there, only clubs open, so we thought go for a sit down curry, closed, sit down Chinese, closed, we ended up taking a subway back to the hotel, we come to tenerife in August, flight time 4 hours in an air conditioned planeSan Miguel 1.5 euros triple sized Tia Maria and coke 3 euros, Chinese and Indian food up until 1.00 am pubs bars entertainment venues open till you go home or drop, and people ask me why we go ;)

Last year I moved jobs and now work right next to East Midlands Airport.

Made it very difficult to holiday in the UK when you watch everyone else flying out everyday.

Still enjoy weekend breaks in the UK in the odd Premier Inn or our own caravan but for our main holiday then no. We used to love Cornwall but the traffic and the prices have stopped that. We used to stop at Porth Beach Tourist Park in their static caravans but in summer they now want nearly £1000 per week for a caravan peak season and then you can add Food, Drink and Fuel at UK prices.
A six to seven hour drive each way, two tanks of fuel, expensive food and drink, unpredictable weather and congestion. Or for similar money, a four star hotel in tenerife, good food, cheap drinks, great weather, excellent staff.

You will definitely need a car if you are staying at Camping Nauta, it is a quite isolated especially if you are in a wheel chair, there used to be a couple of buses a day but not sure if they still run. There is a Bar and swimming pool and a small shop on the site. Try Skyscanner to book flights they will give you a comparison of all the Airlines flight prices. You can book car hire from the Airport and Autorisen are the best Company that most people use, no hidden charges like some companies. With you being in a wheelchair it would definitely be better to collect your hire car from the Airport when you arrive and book it for as long as your stay as I think you will need it to get about, then just drop it off at the Airport when you leave. It really would cost too much in Taxis as I assume that with 2 teenagers they will be wanting to go to Los Cristianos and Las Americas. Enjoy your holiday:sunburn::beach::sunshine:

Yes you definitely need a car if staying on Camping Nauta. We have a couple of caravans on there. A lot of the roads around the site are gravelled, not sure how easy it would be with a wheelchair but there is a chap who buzzes around on a mobility scooter.
Autoreisen is definitely the best car hire, you can pick up as soon as you land and drop keys off when you depart. Book once you've got your flights and keep checking. Rebook and cancel previous booking if it goes down in price. You don't pay until you pick up, no added extras.
I'd look at taking your teens to Siam Park, they'll love it. Works out about £30 a head but a full day. Aqua Park is good too, but go there first then Siam.

You will have no friends (me included) if you don't stop taking the filthy weather with you.:p

We are looking forward to meeting up when we are out in Tenerife from the 24th Oct.- 20th Nov.

For us that's only 69 days to go.

Devastating news is that marbro8 returns home the day after we arrive, so he won't have a lot of time to buy Carol her customary very large Vodka's and Coke!:crying2:

Anybody know anything about the bar/beach club that opened under the old faro night club at Puerto Colon?i was speaking to someone who uses it regularly last time i was over, richard who owns R&B'S,he said it is nice you pay about €50 to use the pools and sunbeds and you get a certain amount of food and drink included in that, but if you run out of credit then you have to pay more:)

Flying from Birmingham on the early flight on Tuesday morning with good old Ryanair and am out for eleven days. There are no home matches so will miss seeing Tenerife play on this visit. I also tend to sit under a brolly in the heat of the day or go out for lunch in Los Abrigos or La Caleta. I then have an afternoon sunbathing session with a cold drink and an evening swim..... Fantastic!

Normally fly from NCL with Jet2 but LBA had the flights for approx £120 cheaper pp so we decided to have an extra few nights for the money that we saved. Better spending it in Tenerife than handing it to the flight companies :) Staying in Island Village this time so for me it's back where it all started over 10 years ago - and I couldn't wait to get home back then. How times change
