Wednesday: [emoji942] Heavy showers/Windy - Max 6°C.
Good morning! We have a change to some more traditional Manchester weather today with frequent heavy showers, some of which will merge into longer spells of rain. Winds will be strong as well. The best chance for a drier spell will be during the afternoon when the sun should make a few brief appearances. It will feel milder out though with highs of 6°C.
This evening we will have a front moving East which will bring sleet and snow to higher ground at around 200M plus, lower levels should mostly see rain. Showers will follow on behind overnight with temperatures around 2°

Thursday: ☁️ Foggy/Cloudy - Max 11°C.
Good morning! Quick update today as there really is not much change in the conditions we have had the last few days.
All areas will have a cloudy day with patchy drizzle at times. There will be fog around during the morning which will be stubborn to clear in hillier areas. Temperatures will be mild for the time of year with highs of 11°C. Tonight cloud will stay with us, with further mist/fog on the hills and a low of 7°C.
Today marks the winter solstice and the shortest day of the year which means the days will slowly get longer from tomorrow! Have a great day!

We hope everybody had a nice Christmas Day! Today we are back in cold air with temperatures struggling with only a high of 5C. Boxing Day afternoon will see a few showers but also plenty of bright winter sunshine. Tonight will be cold with a few clear periods and a low of -1°C in rural areas.
There is a weather warning out for rain and snow tonight and although it does not cover Manchester, it is worth knowing if you happen to be traveling near areas such as Macclesfield, The Peak District, Sheffield and much of the Midlands and to the South-East of England.
Here is the official info from The Met Office;
A weather system moving east across southern England and Wales will bring a mixture of heavy rain and snow. 15-25 mm of rain is expected quite widely within the warning area with some places receiving 40-50 mm. Through the night, it is likely to turn to snow in places, initially over higher ground Wales and perhaps the Peak District, then central and eventually southern England on Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to settle mainly above 100 m with a cm or two for most, locally 2-5 cm and perhaps up to 10 cm in a few places. These larger amounts are more likely over the highest ground. The warning has been updated to remove northwest Wales, but extend the area to include higher ground in southern England and Wales.
Enjoy Boxing Day everyone! Normal forecasts will be back in the morning!

Thursday: Wintry showers & sunny spells - Max 5°C.
Good morning!
Today we start on a very cold note with a few showers of sleet/snow around, mostly to the South-West of Manchester. Watch out for ice if you do catch a shower as the ground temperature will be below freezing for most of the day.
Showers will be very hit and miss during the rest of the day. Away from the showers, we will have plenty of sunny periods mixed in with partly cloudy skies. Temperatures won’t get any higher than 5°C though so wrap up warm.
Tonight will again be frosty at first with temperatures falling away to a low of -3°C.
Friday AM: ⚠️ - Winty mix.
Cloud will increase as we approach Friday morning with a spell of rain, sleet and snow pushing in from The South-West. For anyone in work on Friday morning, it is worth giving yourself extra time to get to work as travel disruption is possible, especially if traveling in hillier areas. Any snow will turn back to rain later in the morning.
Have a good day!
Ted
